Mad about the Mad River Valley

My friend Patty M and I were talking about what makes life in the Mad River Valley worth the mud (easy to forget when we have a day like today---beautiful skies and creemee stand is open!) and she said: "I am 'mad' about the Mad River Valley for the community. Wherever your turn people are taking care of each other. If you are sick there will be food, if you have had a loss the cashier at Mehuron’s will give condolences, if your house burns down there is a place to live and on and on it goes. When it starts to get cold and I am not quite ready I wonder where I will move to when I get older and I can’t think of any place I would rather live, it is my home."

  1. Amen to that. It is so nice to live in a place where when you are out for a few simple errands you are gone from home a few hours because of the friends and neighbors you bump into along the way. We are lucky we live in a community where we take care of each other.

When Chris' family was here two years ago for services, they could not believe the compassion and support we had at our door....neighbors bringing baskets, friends and colleagues just handling tasks that needed to be done, with no thought. They had a hard time wrapping their brain around it but it certainly made them understand why their son chose to live here. I thank my lucky stars every day. - Robin
